This well overlooks Porthmeor, St. Ives, Cornwall. “It was windy with brittle sunshine just after a storm. The sea was churned up as far at the vast horizon, but I was sheltered as I sat at St. Ia’s well.” This well is highly respected by the local community and is honoured as patron saint of the town by a combined pagan/Christian ceremony in February each year.
